Search underway at Victorian park after car of missing man is found nearby

  • Missing Chinese student Yiwei Chu, 28, was last seen at restaurant on April 11
  • The search has been expanded to Werribee Gorge after his car was found nearby
  • His family have offered $10,000 to anyone who finds there son or can help  

Police have expanded their search for a missing Chinese student after his car was found at a nearby national park.

Chinese student Yiwei ‘Carl’ Chu, 28, was expected to pick up his wife Emma Wang from work on the evening of April 11 but never showed up. 

He was last seen at a fast food restaurant in Notting Hill, Victoria, earlier that day.

The search has been expanded to Werribee Gorge after after a resident reported seeing Mr Chu’s white Toyota Camry in a nearby car park the Herald Sun is reporting. 

Victoria Police Inspector Tony Cecchin said Mr Chu had not used his credit cards or mobile phone in two weeks which is out of character.

‘He is usually in constant contact several times a week with his grandmother in China but that has completely stopped, that is a concern to us,’ he said.

When Mr Chu was last seen he was wearing a cream and brown camouflage jacket over a black top with a picture of Snoopy on the front and black rimmed glasses and driving a Toyota Camry
