Seaton, Adelaide: Girl, 5, dies at home – with police called in to investigate

A five-year-old girl has died at her home in Adelaide.

Emergency services were called to the home on Ballater Avenue in Seaton just before 4pm on Wednesday after another child called Triple-Zero, The Messenger reported.

Paramedics arrived to find the girl in cardiac arrest. She was rushed to Adelaide Women’s and Children’s Hospital but could not be saved.

Major crime detectives are now investigating the girl’s death.

No arrests have been made. 

The girl’s parents are believed to be assisting the police.

A police spokesman said: ‘Just before 4pm … police and SA Ambulance Service were called to Ballater Avenue, Seaton, in relation to an unresponsive 5-year-old girl.

‘The girl was initially treated at the scene before being transported to hospital, where despite the efforts of paramedics, she has sadly died.

‘The matter is now subject to a coronial investigation. Police will remain at the scene for some time.

‘Major Crime will assist Western District detectives with the investigation.’ 

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
