Jamal Adams has credited Lionel Messi with inspiring his vital headed deflection that helped the Seahawks snatch victory against the Browns.

With two minutes left in the fourth quarter – and the Seahawks trailing 17-20 – the safety blitzed Browns quarterback PJ Walker on third and three.

Walker’s pass downfield hit the head of Adams, sending the ball looping into the air. It landed in the hands of Julian Love for a crucial interception.

That afforded the Seahawks one final chance to save the game and with 38 seconds on the clock, Geno Smith found Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the endzone.

After his late intervention, which helped Seattle move to 5-2, Adams joked that it was Inter Miami star Messi who taught him his heading skills.

‘Learned this one from Messi himself!!’ Adams wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The deflected interception was Walker’s third turnover of the Browns´ 24-20 loss. Making his second start of the season – with Deshaun Watson sidelined by a shoulder injury – Walker’s performance was filled with some big plays and big misses.

‘The moment it got tipped in the air, I felt the bad feeling that it was going to be a pick or something like that,’ Walker said.

After coming off the bench early and leading a late touchdown drive in a win at Indianapolis last week, Walker was stuck watching Smith march Seattle down the field for a winning touchdown pass to Smith-Njigba.

‘It’s tough. Especially in a crucial moment in the game, having the lead with under three minutes left in the game,’ he said.

‘We got to find a way to get that first down by any means, whether it’s passing or running.’
