Jeffrey Litteral, 52, was arrested Wednesday in Maryland on child porn charges

A married Secret Service employee in Maryland has been arrested on child pornography charges.

Jeffrey Litteral, 52, was arrested at his home in Denton on Wednesday night.

Last year, police were given a tip about child pornography being uploaded to the internet which involved him.

As they arrested him on Wednesday night, officers confiscated computer equipment from his home.

The 52-year-old is now being held without bond on charges of possessing and distributing child pornography.

It is not clear what his role within the Secret Service is but he has had his security clearance suspended and is now on administrative leave.

The agency did not say whether or not he would continue to be paid.

In a press release issued late on Wednesday night, a spokesman said: ‘The Secret Service is aware of the allegations resulting in the arrest of an employee.

‘We take allegations of potential criminal activity seriously.

‘The employee’s security clearance has been suspended and the employee has been placed on administrative leave.

‘All Secret Service issued equipment has been retrieved and the employee’s access to all Secret Service facilities is terminated.’

Litteral is married and has at least two daughters who are understood to be teenagers.

The investigation into him began in 2017 when the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about child porn being uploaded online.

Additional charges are possible and the investigation is ongoing.
