Secretary goes viral with Black Mirror make-up prank

A clever Twitter user’s joke about serving as a make-up artist on Netflix show Black Mirror was so convincing that it fooled thousands – including Chrissy Teigen.

New Yorker Christina Friel, who has worked as an intern on various TV shows, posted the joke to her Twitter page on December 31, sharing a photo of a scene from the popular dark drama series.

The photo shows a woman holding a newborn baby to her face, with the child’s head covered in smatterings of a red substance.

Playing around: New York-based Twitter user Christina Friel went viral after sharing this joke about working on Black Mirror

‘I was hair and make-up for this baby in Black Mirror and I just slabbed strawberry Smuckers all over that noggin,’ Christina joked on the site.

She followed that up with the claim that she ‘got paid $300k’ for the ‘make-up’ work.

Soon enough, Christina’s tweet was going viral and being responded to by hundreds of people who thought she was being serious.

‘How do I get this job?’ asked one user, while another added: ‘Girl this is my dream job and you just made me want it so much more.’

Delayed reaction: Many responded to the tweet by calling it a 'dream job' before realizing that it wasn't real

Others responded with hesitation, not doubting Christina’s line of work nor the claim that it was jam on the baby’s head, but rather confused that she would be paid so much for the job.

‘You did not get paid 300 thousand dollars for that. Stop. Maybe if you were a main hair and makeup for the whole show throughout all seasons then yes, maybe,’ said one user.

Eventually the tweet reached the eyes of Chrissy Teigen, who similarly couldn’t quite tell how much of the statement was true.

‘Wait I am not doubting this but… the actors didn’t even get 300,000 dollars. Can I have your agent?’ she asked.

Looking for a fix: Christina eventually changed her Twitter name to 'Not Actually the Make-up Artist on Black Mirror!' to stop others asking about the non-existent 'job'

Quick-witted Christina responded to her new famous follower with yet another joke, saying she would be glad to help but her agent is ‘in the cloud.’

After other users started to poke fun at Chrissy for only questioning the paycheck, she responded in the thread once again, writing: ‘How am I supposed to know you aren’t a makeup artist? Why are you so shocked here lol.’

After being bombarded for days over the tweet, which has been shared more than 29,000 times, Christina was forced to change her Twitter name to ‘Not Actually the Make-up Artist on Black Mirror!’
