Shocking video shows the moment a pet groomer violently throws a cat against a wall after it appears to scratch his arm.
Security camera footage shows a shirtless male worker helping another employee groom the animal at Carolina Grooming in the West Ashley area of Charleston, South Carolina.
When the cat tries to get away, the man loses his temper and throws it across the room.
But the business’ owner insists the man has been fired and video of the incident, which happened in May, has only been leaked now because a manager who tried to cover it up has also been let go.
Warning: disturbing footage:
This now-former worker at Carolina Grooming is seen on surveillance video heaving a cat into a wall and the floor
The shirtless man is seen holding down a cat who was getting a grooming at a shop in South Carolina, but when he got bitten and scratched the employee threw the feline to the ground
The cat’s owner Marcia Alfaro told News 2: ‘I’m just sick to my stomach. I can’t even watch it, I can’t see my baby hurt’
The cat’s owner Marcia Alfaro told News 2: ‘I’m just sick to my stomach. I can’t even watch it, I can’t see my baby hurt.’
She said she will never use the grooming service again, but does not plan to press charges.
In the footage, the unidentified shirtless man is seen holding the ginger gat down as it is groomed by a female worker.
It tries to escape several times, before clawing at the man, who responds by hurling it at a wall.
The female worker scolds the man, saying: ‘Babe, you can’t do that. You should have just let him go.’
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office says they have this video of a groomer throwing a cat hard onto the floor and will investigate
Daryl Kornickey, owner of Carolina Grooming, recently fired a manager who he accuses of posting a video of another worker abusive toward a cat
The location where a man abused a cat getting groomed six months ago. The owner said that individual was fired for his violent action
The grooming business’ owner, Daryl Kornickey, insists that the man was fired after he saw the footage.
Kornickey says he retired three years ago because of health matters, and left an employee to manage the business while he remained owner, Live 5 News reports.
He claims that the man who threw the cat was an employee hired by that manager.
He further alleges that the shocking security footage has now been leaked by that manager because he has also been fired.
A post on the grooming salon’s Facebook page says: ‘The manager tried to hide this video and was fired once it was seen.’
Kornickey told News 2: ‘He made some bad hires and because of him being fired, now he wants to try to take down my business.’
But the manager – identified by ABC News 4 as David Thomas – disputes Kornickey’s version of events, and says the owner refused to let him fire the worker.
Thomas told the station: ‘During that incident, I wasn’t there. I was home recovering from getting my teeth pulled. The guy that got bit, I wanted to fire him, and Daryl told me don’t do it.’
The cat’s owner, Marcia Alfaro, said she will never use the grooming service again, but does not plan to press charges
The unidentified worker man was subsequently fired, the business’ owner said
Thomas says that he waited to post the video, because until recently Kornickey was also his neighbor. He added: ‘I’m not a fool. I’m not gonna go out there and stir the pot just to watch it bubble in my face.’
Kornickey says a new staff in now place at the shop, and he is now back running the operation.
He added: ‘I want customers to know that I will never turn my business over again. I will always be here. I will always be watching and visiting.’
Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said his agency has no record of a report on the incident, but they have the video and are launching an investigation.
