  • Fans have worked out what the Aussie said

Matthew Glaetzer gave a nod to an iconic Australian Olympic Games moment following his unlikely medal win in the men’s Keirin.

Aussie cyclist Glaetzer won his second medal in Paris after expertly dodging a last-corner crash to cross the finish line in third place.

The horror crash, involving Team GB’s Jack Carlin as well as Malaysia’s Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom and Japan’s Shinji Nakano, unfolded at a rapid 30mph and the Briton required medical assistance as a result.

A stunned Glaetzer was seen mouthing something unclear to the TV cameras following his shock finish, and internet detectives have seemingly worked out exactly what the Aussie said.

‘I just did a Bradbury,’ he appears to say.

The comment was a reference to speed skater Steve Bradbury, who became Australia’s first Olympic Gold medallist at a Winter Games after his rivals all fell over on the final corner to allow him to coast to victory.

Despite his shock at how the race panned out, Glaetzer said he had planned to capitalise on any drama in front of him.

‘I wanted to make sure I didn’t get caught out and ride a race that I was proud of,’ he said of taking the lead early in the race.

‘In the end, I stayed on my bike, dodged the chaos, crossed the line and felt blessed to get an individual medal.

‘You never know what will happen in a Keirin Olympic final. They are always crazy. That was an example of what could happen in a Keirin. Literally anything. So, to come away from my final Olympics, with an individual medal.

‘I knew it was possible but things had to fall my way and it literally did today.’
