‘Selfish’ train passenger leaves bag on seat as elderly woman is forced to stand

Train passenger is slammed as ‘selfish’ for refusing to move her bag from the seat next to her – forcing an elderly woman to stand in the aisle

  • Woman was spotted minding a seat on packed train for her friend in Sydney
  • A frail old woman was seen standing in the aisle and woman didn’t move her bag 
  • Incident occurred on a City to Macarthur service and the woman was confronted
  • However, the woman refused to remove the bag and continued to ‘laugh’  

A ‘selfish’ train passenger has been pictured saving a seat for a friend on a packed train while an elderly woman was forced to stand in the aisle.

The photo was sent to 2GB radio’s Ray Hadley after a man’s wife saw a woman ‘sitting there laughing to herself’ with her bag on the seat next to her on a Sydney train.

‘This occurred this afternoon on a city to Macarthur service,’ the man who sent the picture in said.

‘My wife was happy to stand, however there was an elderly lady that really could have used this seat.’

He said the woman was minding the seat for a friend who was about to get on the train.

‘It turns out she was holding the seat for a friend who got on somewhere after the airport while all the other passengers had to stand,’ he said.

The woman was confronted but she continued ‘refusing to move her bag for anyone to sit down’.

‘Trains are packed due to cancellations and issues going on,’ the man said.

‘These days I’m too worried to say something in case they just decide to stab you or how they are going to react.

‘Someone already had words with her and she’s sitting there laughing to herself.’
