Senior Man United stars ‘questioned Erik ten Hag’s team choices’ before the club FINALLY sacked the Dutchman after dismal run of form

Senior players in Manchester United’s squad reportedly expressed concerns over Erik ten Hag’s management choices as the club decided to sack the Dutchman on Monday morning.

Ten Hag had his contract terminated after United lost 2-1 against fellow strugglers West Ham at the weekend and dropped to 14th in the Premier League standings.

His side also drew 1-1 against Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in their midweek Europa League contest to make it over a year since the Dutchman last won a European fixture.

United are now interviewing potential replacements for the 54-year-old who had only extended his contract at the club in the summer after surviving previous calls to leave.

Ten Hag had remained adamant there was harmony with the club’s INEOS-backed sporting team as the club tried to bounce-back from a torrid start to the season, but has now left his role.

Former Barcelona manager and club legend, Xavi, has held discussions over becoming United’s next head coach, while Brentford’s Thomas Frank is also admired for the work he has done at the Bees.

Now, Ten Hag could find himself facing a revolt from his players after it was revealed several senior stars have now aired concerns over his management style and team selection decisions, as reported by talkSPORT.

Marcus Rashford’s role within the team has raised eyebrows with the Englishman showing signs of rediscovering his former stunning form but finding himself in and out of the team.

The 26-year-old scored three times in two matches earlier in the season but was then dropped to the bench for successive games after that.

Players also questioned why the now unemployed manager wasn’t giving summer signing Manuel Ugarte a consistent run of fixtures as he attempted to settle into life in England.

Meanwhile, Ruud van Nistelrooy has been placed in interim charge of Man United while the club search for Ten Hag’s permanent successor.
