Her former boyfriend, Stefan Karic, is said to have been her biggest support during the illness.

He cut his hair as well in an attempt to show solidarity and support during her chemotherapy.

He also tattooed her face on his body, according to local media.

But the couple broke up in 2017 with Dijana saying that they remained on good terms and that he supported her when she needed it most.

During her six year cancer struggle, she wrote a blog where she told of her experiences and gave advice to others.

On it she wrote: ‘I am Dijana. Last year I was diagnosed with invasive womb cancer, and only few months after that metastasis in lymph nodes – in abdomen and neck.

‘Even though the prognosis were terrifying, I did not pity myself in any moment neither suffered over my destiny!’
