Serena Williams and daughter Alexis flex their muscles from Wimbledon in matching Serena sweatshirts

While Serena Williams has certainly garnered endless fans during her time in the spotlight, on Monday she proved just who is her biggest supporter.

Taking to Instagram, the tennis ace posted a shot in which she posed alongside her daughter Alexis, who turns two in September, as they raised their arms while sporting jumpers designed by the star and adorned with an ‘S’ logo.

The tennis legend, 37, who is the winner of no less than 23 grand slam tennis singles titles, was preparing for her first game at Wimbledon on Tuesday when she shared the snap, just hours after her sister Venus was sadly defeated.

The mother and daughter duo stood side by side as Serena flexed her muscles for the camera, while Alexis attempted to do the same, holding out her fists. The tennis ace captioned the photo for her upcoming match: ‘Let the games begin!’   

Serena and Alexis’ matching white jumpers with an S in the classic Wimbledon colours of green and purple, is the London Sweater from the sportswoman’s own clothing range and retails for £70. 

She launched the brand last year to empower women to express their creativity and individuality, while keeping functionality in mind.

Serena told Vogue last year: ‘Now that I’m 36 and I look at my baby, I remember that this was also one of my goals when I was little, before tennis took over, when I was still kind of a normal girl who played with dolls.’

She told WWD: ‘The customer is a girl or a woman who believes in herself, or wants to believe in herself; maybe she’s feeling unconfident that day.

Serena ranked number one in singles for the first time in 2002, winning the achievement seven more times since.

Speaking on BBC Two, Gauff said: ‘It’s the first time I have ever cried after winning a match, I don’t know how to explain how I feel…

‘I definitely had to tell myself to stay calm, I had to remind myself that the lines are the same lines, the courts are the same size and after every point I told myself ‘stay calm’.’

The two shared a few words at the net, with Gauff recounting: ‘She told me congratulations and keep going, she said good luck and I told her thanks for everything she did.

‘I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her – I told her she was so inspiring and I’ve always wanted to tell her that but I’ve never had the guts to before.’
