Sergio Perez reveals a pungent smell is overtaking Las Vegas ahead of the Grand Prix

F1 driver Sergio Perez has complained of a ‘very noticeable’ scent in Las Vegas ahead of the Grand Prix.

The Mexican driver, who competes for Red Bull, is in the Sin City ahead of the Vegas GP on Sunday.

And he told reporters on Friday that the smell of marijuana was ‘very noticeable’ around the circuit.

‘I’m a bit tired of it already – the amount is incredible,’ he said. ‘It’s something all the drivers will definitely talk about.’

Fellow driver Franco Colapinto took note of the scent as well.

‘Yes, there was a smell of weed,’ he said. ‘If they dope the drivers now, I think we’ll all test positive, I swear.’

The Vegas GP debuted last year, with Max Verstappen winning the inaugural race.

Perez finished in third behind Charles Leclerc.

Ahead of the race on Saturday night, Lewis Hamilton won both practice sessions Friday.

And while the race is expected to draw an A-list crowd of celebrities, F1 analyst Karun Chandhok thinks organizers should make one huge change to the race.

The Vegas GP will kick off at 10pm local time in Nevada.
