Sergio Ramos wants La Liga return and follows Lionel Messi out of PSG with contract expiring

Sergio Ramos ‘mad about’ La Liga return as he follows Lionel Messi out of PSG with the Real Madrid legend’s contract set to expire THIS week

Sergio Ramos is reportedly ‘mad about’ a return to Spain after the expiration of his contract with PSG.

The 37-year-old is set to become a free agent when his PSG deal comes to an end later this week and has supposedly already identified his next destination.

According to local station Radio Sevilla Cadena SER, he has set his sights on a homecoming to Seville, where he grew up and started his football journey,

Sevilla were the club who gave Ramos his debut in 2004 and it is surrounded by the stands of the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, coloured blood-red with passion, that he would like to draw the curtain on his stellar career.

Having made 45 appearances for PSG this season, the Spaniard still has a lot to offer – despite being part of a defence that leaked 40 Ligue 1 goals.

Ramos has won four Champions Leagues, seven league titles, a World Cup, and much more

His departure will coincide with that of Lionel Messi, who is trading the glitz of Paris for the glamour of Miami, linking up with David Beckham’s Inter Miami.

Throughout an imperious 21 seasons, Ramos has won it all – a World Cup, two European Championships, four Champions Leagues, seven domestic league titles, and a host of other trophies.

He has been named La Liga’s Best Defender five times, part of UEFA’s Team of the Year nine times, and been included in the FIFA FIFPro World11 on a staggering 11 occasions – a record only bettered by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

With PSG, he won Ligue 1 twice in two years but could not help them advance further in Europe, and by returning to Sevilla, perhaps he could pick collect one of the few trophies he hasn’t scooped up – Sevilla’s old favourite, the Europa League, which they won for a seventh time in 17 seasons against Roma in May.
