Seth Rogen speaks about why he stays away from working on Marvel or DC Studios projects

Seth Rogen opened up about staying away from Marvel or DC-based projects during an interview with Polygon that was published on Friday.

The 41-year-old actor told the media outlet that, although he was a fan of several big-budget superhero projects, he was afraid of working with diminished creative control.

The performer — who recently blasted CEOs of streaming services — also expressed that his creative partner, Evan Goldberg, would likely not be a fan of the way that Marvel or DC projects are produced.

Rogen stated: ‘We really have a pretty specific way we work; me and Evan have been writers for 20 years at this point. It’s a fear of the process, honestly.’

The Pineapple Express actor did, however, admit that he was particularly fond of certain superhero-centric projects.

‘I say that knowing nothing about the process. There are a lot of Marvel things I love,’ he stated.

Rogen went on to state that he was afraid that the creative process he developed with Goldberg would not work well with executives from Marvel or DC.

He said: ‘It’s mostly a fear of how would we plug into the system they have in place, which seems like a very good system, and a system that serves them very well. But is it a system that we would ultimately get really frustrated with?’

The This Is The End star also discussed working on franchise-centric projects with his longtime creative partner.

‘What’s also appealing for us about The Boys and the other bigger franchise-y type things we’ve done, is that we are creating the infrastructure and process for them, not plugging into someone else’s infrastructure and process,’ he said.

The actor then described himself, as well as Goldberg, as ‘control freaks.’

Rogen is currently preparing for the release of the upcoming animated action-comedy movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.

The actor, who co-wrote the feature’s script and served as one of its producers, voiced Bebop in the star-studded feature.
