Seven’s quiz show The Chase Australia searching for contestants – and here’s how you can apply

One of the most popular quiz shows on Australian television is on the search for more contestants.

Tea time favourite The Chase Australia has announced its open for auditions.

And producers are boosting host Larry Emdur as a lure to entice trivia fans to answer the casting call.

‘Not only will you combine your knowledge with three other contestants to try and take down the Chaser but you’ll also have TV legend Larry Emdur guiding you through the game,’ applicants are told on the producer’s web page.

Only would-be contestants who are residents of Australia over the age of 18 are eligible to apply for the top rating quiz, which is produced in Sydney by ITV for Channel Seven.

Based on a UK format the quiz centres on contestants who are tested on their general knowledge.

They play for cash prizes and eventually contestants play off against a ‘Chaser’, quiz professional, who tries to prevent them from taking home their winnings.

The Australian show has made stars out of its regular cast of ‘Chasers’ including Anne Hegarty and Mark Labbett.

You can apply to be on The Chase Australia via the website.

It comes after Chaser Mark Labbett’s shock split from his British television presenter girlfriend Hayley Palmer after one year together.

The quizmaster, 58, known by his nickname The Beast, shared a photo to social media earlier this month capturing him rocking his slimmed-down figure.

Mark and 42-year-old Sky Entertainment reporter Hayley marked their one year anniversary on social media in May – but he later now claimed there was too much of an age gap between them.

Confirming news of their break-up on Instagram, Palmer wrote: ‘It is with regret I announce that myself and Mark have gone our separate ways. We had the best year together and I truly wish him all the best for the future.’

The pair had been dating since early 2023, with Mark previously admitting he was a ‘very very lucky man’ to be with her.
