Sex and the City fans have been left outraged over hints that longtime characters and former flames Carrie Bradshaw and Aidan Shaw are set to rekindle their troubled on-again-off-again relationship during the second season of the sequel series And Just Like That.
While many fans are still trying to wrap their head around the news that John’s character Aidan will rejoin the Sex and the City gang as a pivotal role in SJP’s Carrie Bradshaw’s life, the 57-year-old actress shared jaw-dropping photos of the pair embracing in front of her beloved brownstone apartment.
Whether you’re team Aidan or not, the actress knew the trio of snaps she posted her to her Instagram would leave fans’ heads spinning, pairing the photos with a dramatic caption to match the reactions: ‘This. Is. Not. A. Drill.’
Ahead of the release of season two of And Just Like That, which is currently filming in New York City, HBO Max has been dropping hints about what’s to come. The latest loved up snaps of the duo kissing sent the web into overdrive, and within seconds, a flurry of fans took took to Twitter to share their outrage at the rekindled relationship.

Others claimed the fashionista would ‘ruin’ her ex-lover’s life, and slammed the show writers because ‘no one’ wanted the duo back together.

One fan even said she was ‘crying’ at the thought the duo getting back together.

Others brought up Carrie’s infidelity as a reason for her not deserving the furniture designer.

Their romance started off rocky as Aidan revealed he would never date a smoker, prompting Carrie to lie about quitting, until finally actually quitting.
They settled into a comfortable relationship, and even got engaged, until she cheated on him with Mr. Big.
The couple then attempted to revive their romance, however, Aidan couldn’t get over Carrie cheating on him, especially because the fashionista continued to see Big platonically.
The duo dated on and off during the original series and eventually got engaged.
Then, they split for good.
Aidan returned in Sex and the City 2, and shared a kiss with the fashionista before revealing that he had had two children.
Carrie went on to marry Mr. Big.
As for Carrie, she married Mr. Big , who ultimately dies in the revival series.
Fans of the sequel series recall that Carrie’s husband died of a heart attack during the show’s pilot episode.
At the end of the first season, viewers see Carrie opening herself up to love again when she hooks up with her podcast producer.
And now it looks like Carrie is reviving her old fame based on the teaser photos.
Earlier this month, SJP teased fans with news of their ‘happy’ reunion.
Speaking to Extra about filming alongside John again, the actress said: “It’s so nice. It’s so happy. He brings a lot of joy.
‘He’s a kind of preternaturally happy person and he’s so excited to be back and it’s an amazing storyline that Michael (Patrick King) and the writers have sorted out and I think will be really meaningful to the audience who feel a lot of affection for him.
‘I can’t say anything except, it’s just really great to be in his company again and to have a storyline, though, that is also happy and fun and familiar.’

After over two decades, six seasons, two films and a much-anticipated reboot, it seems that Carrie and team Aidan fans are finally getting the ending they have been waiting for.

Others said they ‘needed’ the duo back together, before noting that Big was too ‘toxic’ for the fashionista.

Fans will just have to wait and see what happens with their rekindled relationship when the sequel series And Just Like That returns. HBO Max has yet to announce a premiere date.
