Willie Garson’s cause of death was pancreatic cancer.

The Sex and the City actor, who recently reprised his role as Stanford Blatch for the upcoming reboot And Just Like That…, passed away on September 21 at the age of 57.

It’s not known how long he was battling the illness for, but Garson’s cause of death was confirmed in an obituary published in the New York Times on Thursday.

‘William Garson Paszamant, better known as Willie Garson to his many fans and throughout the entertainment industry, noted actor of stage, film, and television, has died at age 57 at his home in Los Angeles. The cause was pancreatic cancer,’ read the star’s obituary.

It would go on to recall Garson’s highly successful career in Hollywood, which included 300 television appearances and roles in over 70 films.

To close out the obituary, Willie’s family encouraged fans wanting to honor his memory to contribute to a cause that was near and dear to his heart.  

‘In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations to be made in his name go to the Alliance for Children’s Rights,’ penned the grieving family.

The Alliance for Children’s Rights aims to ‘protect the rights of children in poverty and those overcoming abuse and neglect by delivering free legal services, supportive programs, and systemic solutions.’

Willie has been devoted to bettering the lives of children in the United States’ foster care system, often holding/participating in fundraisers aimed at aiding adoption efforts.

Garson adopted his only child, son Nathen, in 2009. Nathen, now 20-years-old, confirmed his father’s tragic passing via Instagram on Tuesday, September 21. 

Nathen penned a heartfelt tribute to his late father on Instagram, which included some of his favorite memories of Garson. 

‘I love you so much papa. Rest In Peace and I’m so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much. I’m so proud of you,’ he began.

‘I will always love you, but I think it’s time for you to go on an adventure of your own. You’ll always be with me.

‘Love you more than you will ever know and I’m glad you can be at peace now. You always were the toughest and funniest and smartest person I’ve known. I’m glad you shared you’re love with me. I’ll never forget it or lose it,’ Nathen concluded. 

Willie is also survived by his sister Lisa Clark and brother John Paszamant, as well as three nieces and two nephews. 

With a career spanning four decades, Garson boasts 170 acting credits and is best known for his memorable portrayal of ‘gay talent agent’ Stanford ‘Stanny’ Blatch in the HBO series Sex And The City. 

Willie appeared in 27 of the series’ 98 episodes, which spanned from 1998 until its finale in 2004.

He also appeared in the first Sex And The City feature film in 2008, as well as its sequel, titled Sex And The City 2, in 2010.

Just two months prior to his death, Willie was spotted filming a scene with Sarah on the set of the forthcoming SATC reboot, titled And Just Like That…, in New York City.

The reboot, which is expected to premiere on HBO Max later this year, is supposed to catch fans up on the lives of the series’ characters and how they’ve evolved since the events of Sex And The City 2.

On July 24, Willie and series lead Sarah Jessica Parker were also joined on set by costar Mario Cantone, who plays event planner Anthony Marentino in the beloved HBO series and subsequent revival.

During the shoot, Garson could be seen placing a kiss on Parker’s face as they performed their lines out front of the Lyceum Theater.

He was last photographed filming for the reboot on August 3.

Speaking to Us Weekly in June, Willie expressed his excitement over figuratively and literally ‘stepping into the shoes [of Stanford Blatch] again’ after so many years.

‘It was great. I was just telling my friends … that I probably was wearing about $200,000 worth of clothing yesterday,’ speaking of his first day on set. ‘And it was right away. It’s like, “Oh, this is us, here we are.”‘

Since the news of his passing broke, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, and former SATC player Kim Cattrall have issued social media statements in honor of Garson, many of which included their favorite snapshots of and with the late star.

Parker revealed in the comment section of costar Chris Noth’s Instagram tribute to Garson that she is ‘not ready’ to address the actor’s death.

Noth’s Instagram post included a sweet snapshot of Parker and Garson filming the first Sex And The City film in 2007. 

‘Thank you dearest Chris. I’m not ready yet. Xxx,’ penned Parker, who is also mourning the very recent loss of her longtime business partner George D. Malkemus lll.
