Shake Shack debut eel burger and TV-show themed shakes

Shake Shack is scooting their famous cheeseburgers and milkshakes over to make way on the menu for more exciting additions that have some fans drooling with excitement – and others questioning the somewhat fishy dish.

The popular burger chain is set to add a smoked eel burger to its menu this month, having partnered with Michelin-starred chef Fergus Henderson on the creation – which is topped with smoked bacon, red onion, crème fraîche, horseradish and watercress, and retails for $10 a pop.

The fish dish will also only be available at the restaurant’s famed Madison Square Park location in New York City for one weekend only from September 15 to September 16.

Chef Fergus, known for his nose-to-tail approach to using uncommon meat cuts shared he was excited to leave his famous restaurant St. JOHN in London.

‘We have enjoyed several cheeky Shake Shack moments at St. JOHN, and we are delighted to be giving Shake Shack a cheeky St. JOHN moment in return,’ the he said in a press release statement on the collaboration.

But some burger fans are questioning the fish fillet and took to Instagram to share how the dish has fallen flat with their expectations.

‘I’m calling the cops,’ one user announced and added a sick face emoji.

‘I love Shake Shack more that In N Out, Fatburger…you name it. But ewwwww,’ another upset Instagram fan wrote.

‘Is it April Fools?’ another incredulous commentor shared.

Despite the heat, there were still some foodie fans excited about the renowned chef’s upcoming creation.

For fans that can’t get their hands on the seafood sandwich during the weekend window, Shake Shack is also debuting two limited edition milkshakes themed by the NBC sitcom Will & Grace, which returns to television later this month.

The shakes will come in two flavors for $6 each including the ‘Will & Grace’ – a cinnamon marshmallow custard blended with fudge and generously topped with whipped cream and cinnamon.

The other shake is an alcoholic first for the Shack with the introduction of the ‘Jack & Karen,’ which fittingly includes a dash of prosecco in the strawberry custard mix that’s topped with whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles and raspberry dust.

The sweet sips will be available Monday, September 18th through Sunday, October 1st in select LA and NY locations, with proceeds going towards the LGBTQ advocacy organization GLAAD.
