Sharon Osbourne defends Kanye West over ‘white lives matter’ and wants her ‘money back’ from BLM

Just a few weeks after assuring fans she’s ‘not racist’ during an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, Sharon Osbourne is being accused of just that.

The British television personality is catching flack for seemingly defending Kanye West’s ‘white lives matter’ drama by telling TMZ on Wednesday: ‘I don’t understand why white lives don’t matter?’

Sharon, 69, also appeared to back Ye’s assertion that the Black Lives Matter movement was a ‘scam’. Her comments come as the star is emerging from her own public cancellation over a racism scandal on The Talk.

Speaking out: Sharon Osbourne is catching flack for seemingly defending Kanye West’s ‘white lives matter’ drama by telling TMZ on Wednesday: ‘I don’t understand why white lives don’t matter?’

Osbourne was approached by TMZ while shopping in Beverly Hills this week and asked about the Kanye West mess taking over the news this week.

Ye is embroiled in controversy, once again, for wearing a ‘white lives matter’ shirt to his Yeezy fashion show in Paris (and putting his models in the tops as well). He also railed against the Black Lives Matter movement and called it a scam.

The mogul’s stance, which is reminiscent of the time in 2018 when called slavery a choice, has prompted feuds with everyone from Gigi Hadid to the Kardashians to a prominent Vogue editor.

‘I don’t understand why white lives don’t matter? I don’t understand it,’ Sharon told TMZ when she was asked about Kanye. ‘Everybody matter’s don’t they?’

Osbourne admittedly didn’t know the ins and outs of the current scandal but knew enough to pipe up when she was asked about West’s allegation that BLM was a scam.

‘We gave $900,000 dollars to that and I’d like my money back,’ Sharon quipped in response, adding with a laugh that she wished she had talked to Kanye before making the donation.

Sharon – who is staunchly anti cancellation – unsurprisingly added that she does not think Kanye should be canceled over his statements.

Osbourne herself is in the midst of moving past her own cancellation over accusations of racism.

‘I learned a lot through [getting canceled] but you are who you are. I am not a racist … never said one racist thing,’ Sharon exclusively told DailyMail.com in September.  ‘People are woke, it’s a whole different world out there. People conduct themselves differently now.’

As a refresher, Sharon’s fall from grace was precipitated by a heated discussion with The Talk co-host Sheryl Underwood over comments Piers Morgan had made about Meghan Markle.

At the time, back in March of 2021, Morgan was being accused of being racist because of his harsh public critique of the Duchess.

Sharon went ahead and defended Piers, a good friend, during an episode of her talk show and her defense did not sit well with Sheryl Underwood – nor did it with the public and CBS executives.

'I learned a lot through [getting canceled] but you are who you are. I am not a racist ¿ never said one racist thing,' Sharon previously told DailyMail.com in September. 'People are woke, it's a whole different world out there. People conduct themselves differently now.'

‘There are three things I never want to talk about, religion, politics and minority groups because you can never win,’ Osbourne she told DailyMail.com at the time. ‘There will be 50 percent that agree with you and 50 that think you’re an a**hole.’

She added that the 50 percent who don’t agree become ‘judge, jury and executioner.’

Sharon may have heeded her own advice before speaking on Kanye West’s latest drama as it has landed her back in the center of the hot-button cancellation conversation.

As for Ye, his feuds seem to be heating up over his ‘white lives matter’ publicity stunt.

On Thursday, West lashed out Gigi Hadid in another impassioned rant as he branded her a ‘privileged Karen’ and a ‘zombie’.

The rapper, 45, and the supermodel, 25, have been caught up in a war of words this week after she leapt to the defense of Vogue contributing editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who West had been accused of ‘bullying’ online.

In the latest exchange West lashed out as he shared a screenshot of a comment made by Gigi on Instagram in which she claimed the rapper did not treat ‘V’ like a friend.

While no further context was provided it appeared she was referencing late designer Virgil Abloh after West had been criticized for referencing the designer in his rants.

Gigi penned: ‘Finally…. Thank u! Even people who knew him for a percentage of the time knew kanye did not treat V like a friend ++ V LOVED GKJ…. He’s watching. [sic]’

In response Kanye shared in all caps: ‘Im not finna get ran over by Hollywood again. Gigi you a privileged Karen.

‘You were born with a silver spoon in your mouth. You’re a zombie. You speak up here but didn’t speak up when my child was kidnapped on her birthday. [sic]’

West has made repeated claims that his estranged wife Kim Kardashian ‘kidnapped’ their daughter Chicago when she threw the youngster a secret birthday party in January this year and refused to tell him where it was.

Kardashian – who co-parents North, nine, Saint, six, Chicago, four, and Psalm, three with the rapper – has denied this claim.

West later shared an image of text that read: ‘Nobody say nothing to me in private that they wouldn’t say in public. I’m not yall’s personal hard drive [sic]’, captioning the post: ‘Jesus is king.’

MailOnline has contacted Hadid’s representatives for comment.
