Sharon experienced a stroke herself back in 2001, a life changing ordeal that she discussed during an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2015.

The performer noted that, although she was feeling better in the years since the stroke, she understood that recovery takes time and patience.

‘I’m doing just great. It’s been 14 years since I had a stroke and a brain hemorrhage, but it takes such a long time to recover and it takes such a long time — once you recover — to recover your life,’ she said.

Stone was remarkably open about her road to recovery and pointed out that she had much catching up to do after she worked through her health issues.

‘In all the years you spend recovering, you lose your place in line in your life.

‘You get behind financially, you get behind in your career, you’re not at the top of the list anymore for anything,’ she explained.

‘So I think the fact that people understand — when you have a heart attack, a stroke, cancer, whatever — that you not only have to deal with your health and your family, but you have to start over again once you are well,’ she said.
