The heartbroken grandmother of four children allegedly mowed down and killed by a drunk driver as they were going to get ice cream says the pain of the tragedy is ‘too much to handle’.

Abdallah siblings Sienna, eight, Angelina, 12, and Antony, 13, died in Oatlands, in Sydney’s north-west, on Saturday night alongside their 11-year-old cousin Veronique Sakr.

Grandmother Georgette Abdallah visited the site of the tragedy on Tuesday and broke down into tears as she described her grandchildren.

‘They were angels on earth. They were looked after… My Angelina, she slept with a rosary in her hand. She said, ”Teta, look after yourself” and every time she saw tears in my eyes, she cried,’ a distraught Ms Abdallah said.

She said Antony was unlike anyone else his age and promised to look after his grandmother when he grew older.

She described Sienna as her ‘cheeky girl’ who would always run to hug her grandmother.

Veronique's family said in the statement released on Sunday they were 'devastated' by the loss of 'our beautiful girl' in the horrific crash

'Veronique was a vibrant 11 year old girl, full of life, love and had a maturity well beyond her young years,' the family statement said

‘The little one in the hospital is crying. She is asking: ‘How am I going to go to school? How are we going to survive without them?’,’ Ms Abdallah said.

The children all adored their grandmother – particularly her cooking, she said.

She taught them to make cabbage leaves, which is what they had for their last meal.

‘Thank you everyone for supporting us,’ Ms Abdallah continued.

‘Please pray for us. Pray for my son and his wife and all of us. That’s too much to handle. Give us strength.’

Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Tuesday morning said the tragedy was unthinkable.

‘I just pray for their strength as a family. They will be grieving beyond imagination,’ he said.
