Sheryl Lee Ralph gushes about son Etienne Maurice and his upcoming wedding to Stephanie Wash

Sheryl Lee Ralph gushed about her son Etienne Maurice getting married after he got engaged last month to ABC News producer Stephanie Wash.

The 66-year-old actress shared her excitement with ET Online in an article published on Wednesday while promoting her new Share Some Good Fund back-to-school charity campaign.

‘I’m so happy, I’m so inspired, I love it! The fact that Stephanie just fits and blends so well into our family, you know, that’s all you can ask, that your children are happy in different stages of their life,’ said Sheryl, who was nominated for an Emmy last month for her work on Abbott Elementary.

‘Now if I can see that happen for my daughter I will be ecstatic!,’ she added referencing her daughter Ivory-Victoria Maurice, 28.

Etienne, 31, and Stephanie got engaged last month and she shared the big moment on social media.

‘From strangers to soulmates. July 6th will always be the day our lives changed. Issa fiancé! #HappilyMauriced,’ she posted along with a photo of them hugging while she showed off her sparkling engagement ring.

Sheryl told ET that she does not have to involved in the wedding planning.

‘They’re just at the beginning of it, so, when they need help, they’ll ask me, and I will be there to give it,’ she said.

‘I want the music to be good. I want it to be just wonderfully outstanding because these are the days that, as you go through your marriage, you have to look back on what is probably your happiest day together and remember that day,’ she added.

‘When your partner gets on your last nerve and you need to be reminded, ‘Why did I do this? Why did I get married? What was it again about this person?’ But then, you think about your wedding and go, ‘Oh, now I understand. Now I remember that.’ And then you just shut your mouth, and you just let that go by,’ Sheryl said.

Sheryl also predicted that she would become a ‘Glamma’ eventually.

‘We called my grandmother Nana, they called my mother Grandi, and I said, ‘Nuh-uh, Glamma”,’ Sheryl said. “Glam-mom, Glamma that works [too], they can say that. I’ll be the G-mama, yes.’

The ongoing double-strike in Hollywood by union writers and actors has paused production of Quinta Brunson’s comedy series Abbott Elementary that also stars Sheryl.

Sheryl on Abbott Elementary portrays veteran kindergarten teacher Barbara Howard, who is based on Quinta’s mother who also was a teacher, and the actress has maintained her commitment to real-life teachers despite the strike.

She teamed up with MadeGood, an organic, allergy-friendly snack brand, to launch the company’s Share Some Good Fund campaign. The initiative is rewarding 1,000 teachers with $200 to support school supply purchases.

Abbott Elementary premiered on ABC in December 2021 and won three Primetime Emmy Awards out of seven nominations.

Season two concluded in April and also received widespread acclaim from critics and audiences.

The show was renewed by ABC in January for a third season.
