Shh! Anti-agers no one but you need know about: I’ve hit the point where my neck gives away my age…

Q My neck is really wrinkled, and I am very self-conscious about it. What is the best treatment for it?

A ‘The neck is a challenge, especially if there’s significant loose skin due to sun exposure, smoking or age,’ says plastic surgeon and cosmetic physician Dr Apul Parikh (apul parikh.co.uk).

Without seeing you, he says, it’s hard to recommend a plan, but there are things that will really help if you’re prepared to take a multi-pronged approach.

‘Injectable skin boosters such as Profhilo (he charges £800 for two sessions) will help rehydrate and soften the fine lines and creases to an extent,’ he says.

‘Botox (£250) in the neck will minimise the platysma bands [those vertical strips of muscle that become more prominent with age to form a “turkey wattle”] and can give a gentle lift.

‘And microneedling with growth factors (£2,000 for a course of five sessions; expect to be bright red for a day after each) will significantly improve the skin’s texture, plumpness and evenness of tone, as well as slightly firm it.’

Neck-lift surgery may be an option ‘but is normally done in conjunction with a facelift to get good results, with prices ranging between £20,000 and £50,000’.

Dr Parikh urges you to see an experienced doctor for an in-depth consultation and treatment plan.
