Do Barcelona REALLY want Shkodran Mustafi?! Arsenal defender’s agent reveals he’s held talks over a shock Nou Camp move, with Barca desperate for a cut-price defender after Gerard Pique’s injury and amid financial crisis
- Barcelona could be set to pull off a bizarre move for Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi
- The German has fallen down the pecking order at the struggling Gunners
- Mustafi is often the recipient of much criticism from the Arsenal supporters
- Cash-strapped Barca are said to be considering him due to Gerard Pique’s injury
The agent of Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has made the bizarre omission that he has held talks with Spanish giants Barcelona regarding a move for his client.
Mustafi has slipped heavily down the pecking order at Arsenal since his arrival in 2016, and lost his place in the Germany national team as a result.
The 28-year-old often found himself receiving the brunt of criticism from Arsenal supporters for their failings in recent season, with a highlights reel of errors and poor judgement on the pitch not helping his case.
Arsenal’s forgotten man Shkodran Mustafi could be set for Barcelona, according to his agent
This week however Mustafi’s agent Emre Ozturk made a surprising revelation when questioned about a recent story post made on social media platform Instagram, showing himself at the Camp Nou which was captioned: ‘ready for meeting.’
The agent, when asked, admitted that he was not in Spain for another of his clients Yusuf Demir, but instead Arsenal defender Mustafi.
Ozturk told Fox Sports: ‘I’m not in Barcelona because of Yusuf Demir, but because of Shkodran Mustafi from Arsenal, whom we also represent.
It is believed that Barca’s interest in the player comes as a result of recent injury sustained by veteran star Gerard Pique.
The cash-strapped Spanish giants have been badly affected financially by the coronavirus pandemic, and must shop with a very tight budget given they also possess the highest wage bill in world football.
