Shock for beach-goer after finding used syringe on the sand at Bondi Beach

Now Bondi Beach isn’t safe: Woman narrowly avoids standing on a used syringe while walking along the sand

  • Aliy Potts was at Bondi and almost stood on a discarded syringe left on the sand
  • She took to Facebook page Bondi Local Loop to publicly voice her concern
  • Used syringes from drug addicts frequently wash up on various Sydney beaches

A concerned woman has posted a disturbing photo on social media showing how perilously close she was to stepping on a used syringe.

Local Aliy Potts was sunning herself at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach when she noticed the discarded syringe in the sand.

Posting on popular Facebook page Bondi Local Loop, which has over 12,000 active members, Ms Potts stated: ‘even more reason why there needs to be more focus on keeping Bondi Beach clean.’

Plenty of people agreed with her post, with Herbie Mossman declaring ‘junkies are treated like victims! What a joke!’ while Dan d’Auvergne-Massie said ‘First strawberries and now our beaches. This madness must stop.’

Daniella Roberta Collison described Ms Potts’ public find as ‘disgraceful’ before tagging a number of friends warning them to be careful.

Used syringes are unfortunately not a new sight across Sydney’s beautiful beaches.

Whiting Beach, located in the ritzy suburb of Mosman, in Sydney’s north, often has unwanted finds washing up from the harbour.

Daily Mail Australia understands the needles and syringes are dumped on the streets  by drug addicts before eventually washing up on the water’s edge.
