‘It’s true they tried really hard to get Shaynna the first time around. In the end she proved too expensive,’ they added.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Seven for comment.

It comes after Dream House host Chris reportedly hit an all time low in recent months following apparent trouble in his personal life and at work with Network Seven.

The celebrity veterinarian, 45, is said to be ‘feeling a bit lost’ after he jumped ship from Channel Ten and took on a hosting gig for thee property renovation show and the popular Dancing With The Stars alongside Sonia Kruger.

With both shows being a far cry from his roots as the animal-loving Bondi Vet star, sources say Chris is ‘not himself’, reported Woman’s Day last week.

‘The issue seems to be that neither of the two primetime slots he’s been matched with [at Seven] – Dream Home and DWTS – have anything to do with who he actually is, which is a loving gorgeous kind caring vet,’ an insider told the publication.

‘He became who he is today by being that bloke everyone loved – The Bondi Vet – and even when he morphed into the hosting role on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! alongside Julia, at least there was a link to animals.’

The source continued: ‘A renovation show wearing hi-vis and hard hats is a long way from his stethoscope and helping pet guinea pigs. He just seems like he’s not himself. Almost a bit flat.’
