A commuter who saw an animal struggling with its leash on the New York subway was shocked to discover its owner was taking their pet duck for a ride.
Maximillian Kirchoff posted a video of the duck ruffling a few feathers on his G train in Brooklyn on Monday.
Sharing his footage on Instagram he wrote: ‘Of course I’m on the G train. It’s a magical train when it shows up.’

After boarding the train in Williamsburg, Mr Kirchoff said he originally thought the duck was a small, white dog.
He told told am NewYork: ‘I looked up to see that the white dog in the woman’s arms was actually a duck, a few feet from me.
‘It quacked a bit more and she let him down to walk around the subway, on its leash.’
The bird did not appear to be a fan of his restraints and was seen struggling on the floor of the carriage.
When another commuter asked about the unusual pet, its owner can be heard saying: ‘We got him when he was a chick.’
