Shocking moment a driver knocks down a grandmother in the crosswalk and speeds away

Police in Santa Ana California are looking for the driver of a white van that hit a local grandmother in the crosswalk and then sped off.   

Maria Gonzalez, 63, told KTLA that she was in the crosswalk and had ten seconds left on her green light. 

As the video shows the van as it comes up, to the light and seems to slow down before it  hits her, knocking her to the ground.

‘I go down, my face in the floor,’ she said, describing the moment of impact.    

After Maria is knocked to the ground, the video shows the white van, which may be a 2017 or 2018 Ford Transit,  as it takes off through the neighborhood,  running stop signs.

 Maria Gonzalez was taken to a local emergency room with moderate injuries.  She is now home recovering with large bruises on her face and body, but she says she is grateful that her injuries weren’t more severe, ‘I said, ‘Thank you, God, because you gave me another opportunity.’ 

Police have said that they believe the driver of the van has a beard and was wearing a hat.  They are looking for any information that leads to his arrest. 

Maria isn’t angry at the man who hit her, but she does have a message for him, ‘he need to go to the police and explain what happened, because it’s (an) accident,’ she told KTLA.  ‘Now, it’s not accident.’
