The teacher was fired from his position after an investigation by the Adana National Education Directorate, according to reports.

The video was taken by an unidentified parent who happened to be in the classroom at the time.

They uploaded the clip to social media, where it gained negative reactions from internet users.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Neither the boy nor the teacher were named in local reports.

Viewers expressed their shock on social media with many blasting the teacher for his behaviour.

One named De Niz wrote: ‘The child cannot write the letter because he is afraid. Violence is never a solution.

‘God damn the people that allowed you to be a teacher.’

And Emre Aktas commented: ‘You cannot be a teacher only by possessing a diploma. People like this do not deserve this profession.’
