A taxi driver was left in a coma after a British man attacked him and allegedly tried to bite off his nose in a horrifying onslaught in Turkey.

Harrowing dashcam footage appeared to show a clash between the Brit and 56-year-old cab driver Kadir Bicer.

The driver’s face was said to have been ‘completely shattered’ in the altercation, and his unconscious body left at the roadside until a fellow cabbie found him.

Critically injured Bicer was rushed to hospital and remains in a coma in an intensive care unit.

The brawl reportedly erupted as the British national rowed with the taxi driver over his fare from Istanbul Airport into the city.

Later footage showed blood stains over the doors of the yellow cab and the British man being led away by police.

He was brought before a court and remanded in custody pending trial.

Dashcam footage of the attack in the early hours of April 25 showed the Brit becoming increasing agitated in the back of the cab.

Witnesses said he was drunk and had earlier caused disturbances at the airport before Bicer agreed to drive him into the city, via Eyupsultan.

Circulating footage began as the he slipped one arm around the driver’s throat and used the other to twist his face towards his mouth.

With the taxi still in busy traffic, he leaned through the seats and appeared to grapple with the driver, who for a time managed to resist.

The driver appeared visibly uncomfortable during the exchange.

As momentum shifted, Bicer was briefly able to move his assailant back through the seats, holding him at an impasse.

The Brit then moved his body forward through the seats for greater range, grabbing the driver’s face with one hand and keeping him in a lock with the other.

Bicer managed to remove his seatbelt and exit the car, shaking off the grip.

From another view, the Brit is then seen grappling on the tarmac with the driver, cars continuing to pass on the busy highway.

Bicer was ultimately left on the side of the road until another taxi driver found him.

Grim medical evidence photos show the driver on a hospital gurney with massively bruised and swollen eyes.

Further cuts and bruises to his right hand seem to have been caused by his desperate struggle.

Police tracked down and arrested the Brit.

Following questioning, he was brought before a court and remanded in custody pending trial.

Bicer’s brother, Huseyin Bicer, said they fear he could leave Turkey without facing justice because he is a foreign national.

He said his brother’s face was ‘completely shattered’ and that the family are anxiously awaiting news from doctors.

Police are investigating the attack.
