This is the shocking moment a police officer in Mexico was allegedly paid off by a motorist during a recent routine traffic stop.
According to Mexican news outlet La Prensa, a cop aboard a motorcycle had pulled over the driver of a SUV on a street in Cuautitlán Izcalli, a municipality in the north of Mexico City.
The pair had a conversation for about 15 minutes, according to a witness who recorded the incident and shared the viral moment Sunday with the outlet.
The cop retreated to his bike and waited for the male driver, who in the cellphone video footage could be seen spotted standing near the opened passenger side door.

After a four minute wait, the man walks towards the cop as a female passenger looks on.
Subsequently, he stood for a couple of seconds and had another verbal exchange with the cop before he deposited what the witness said to be an undetermined amount of cash into the motorcycle’s trunk.
In August 2018, a police officer in the northern border town of Ciudad Juarez was recorded on video by a resident when he took a cash payment from a driver in exchange for not receiving a traffic citation.
Police officer Roberto Carlos García Martínez was eventually arrested. The nine-year police veteran was suspended and placed under investigation.
