  • The woman had been shopping the supermarket at Melbourne’s Chadstone
  • Trolleys and bags filled with baby formula were seen stacked outside the shop

An enraged shopper has filmed the moment shoppers were caught hoarding what appears to be trolley loads of baby formula outside a Woolworths.

The woman had been shopping the supermarket at Melbourne’s Chadstone on Friday when she noticed the ‘team’ at work.

Shocking footage that was posted on social media shows trolleys and bags apparently filled with the highly sought-after baby formula stacked outside the shop.

The woman can be heard reprimanding the shoppers, saying: ‘You aren’t allowed to do this.’

‘Woolworths Chadstone you need to toughen up when I arrived this morning outside there were a team of people running in and out buying baby formula in bulk and filling more than 10 shopping trolleys outside,’ the Facebook post read.

‘When I spoke to the on-site authority in Woolworths they insisted that is was ok to do two per transaction for as many times as they want – what a joke.

‘There is either a limit on blatant profiteering or not.’

Despite both Woolworths and Coles having two-tin limits per customer, foreign shoppers have been repeatedly filmed flouting the rules to buy bulk amounts of formula.

Demand for Australian formula has skyrocketed after an estimated 54,000 Chinese babies were hospitalised in 2008 due to contaminated Chinese formula.

Some international shoppers are happy to pay prices marked up by 1000 per cent, so sought after is the high-quality milk powder.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Woolworths for comment.
