Shocking moment SUV driver deliberately mows down New York City ‘Axe Man’ cyclist on 5th Avenue

Shocking footage has revealed the moment a New York City cyclist and his dog were mown down by an SUV after he told the motorist he ‘drives like s***’

The terrifying hit and run occurred on the Big Apple’s iconic 5th Avenue while the cyclist, identified as notorious McDonald’s ‘Axe Man’ Michael Palacios, rode along the bike lane with his dog Simba.

CCTV footage of the collision has since gone viral online, showing the moment the giant SUV deliberately speeds into the cyclist and his pooch.

After already plowing into Palacios and leaving him sprawled on the road, the SUV unbelievably starts up again, mowing over the bike before shocked onlookers watch them flee the scene.

Palacios shared the stunning hit and run to his seven thousand Instagram followers, where he slammed the driver as he claimed and his dog Simba ‘don’t deserve this’.

‘What happened? I told a bad driver he drives like s***,’ he said.

‘I proceeded and he rammed me from behind. And yes, he knew Simba was on the bike.

‘The great thing about cargo bikes is they receive 90% of the impact. I don’t attach Simba to the bike so he’s free to go in a safe direction.’

Footage of Palacois’ recent hit and run scare quickly spread across social media, but it is not the first time he has hit the headlines.

Last year, he was filmed menacing customers in a New York McDonald’s after witnesses claimed he was rejected by a young woman.

The incident erupted at around 2am on Manhattan’s Lower East Side in September, which saw Palacios arrested after he terrifyingly brandished an axe during his tirade.

The Bronx resident was arraigned on fourth-degree criminal-mischief and possession-of-weapons charges, but was later released without bail.

Palacios even responded to the incident on Instagram, where he said: ‘After the 5-minute police chase through the lower East side the NYPD told me “That was a fun chase.”

‘Traffic was weak and I couldn’t get out of the neighborhood I fell of my bike making a hair pin turn from the street to the sidewalk, landing on my shoulder and dislocating it.

‘They took me to the hospital and than jail. And now I’m out. Some of you want me to go to jail? Already did! Haha. So Have a great day,’ he gloated.

Social media users were quick to support Palacios after footage of the crash was shared online.

‘Jesus Christ, so glad you and Simba are okay – that really sucks,’ said one.

Another user commented: ‘The way he went after you after you got up is crazy. Glad you and Simba tucked out of the way.’

‘Looks like attempted murder to me,’ added a fellow cyclist.

Following the crash, Palacios set up a GoFundMe account to fix his broken cargo bike, which features prominently on his Instagram page.

‘Simba and I were riding down 5th Ave and a bad driver rammed us from behind. Almost running Simba over and then fleeing the scene,’ he said in the fundraiser post.

Palacios’ fundraiser has since raised over $1,200 in just three days.

The NYPD confirmed to Dailymail.com that no police report was made following the incident.
