Shocking thud as van driver mows a man down in Glasgow

This is the horrifying moment a van driver appears to deliberately run over a pedestrian in broad daylight after he and his passenger beat him to the ground in a vicious street brawl.

The Glasgow Housing Association vehicle was filmed ploughing into the man on the pavement following an altercation in the Maryhill area of the city.

The lone victim – who seemed to instigate the initial fight – was floored by several blows before he got back to his feet and appeared to throw something at the driver’s windscreen.

The driver rushed out of the van and together with the second man repeatedly punched the victim (above)

He staggers back to his feet and swears at the men as they get in the van and reverse away. But as they leave he appears to throw an object at the windshield.

The van stops in its tracks and accelerates towards the victim – ramming him to the concrete.

The driver then has to restart the engine after stalling and quickly makes his escape as stunned onlookers hurl abuse at him from the flats above.
