Shooting Elizabeth Hills, Sydney: Man is killed in suspected gangland hit

Man is shot dead in execution-style ‘gangland hit’ as two cars are found torched nearby

A man has been shot dead in a suspected gangland assassination in a quiet suburban street.

Police were called to Hertfordshire St in Elizabeth Hills, south-west Sydney, just before 4pm on Monday where they found a man, believed to be in his 20s, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Although first responders treated the man, he died at the scene having being shot in the head execution-style.

Two vehicles were also discovered to have been set ablaze – a tactic which has become a hallmark of organised crime in Australia.

One of the cars, an SUV, was found on Bough St in Green Valley, while the other sedan was discovered on fire in Bonnyrigg Heights.

‘About 4pm today (Monday 22 May 2023), emergency services were called to Hertfordshire Street, Elizabeth Hills, regarding reports of shots fired,’ a statement from NSW Police reads.

‘On arrival, officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command found a man sitting inside a car, suffering gunshot wounds.

‘Despite the efforts of first responders, the man died at the scene.

‘He has not been formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 20s.

‘A crime scene has been established and an investigation underway into the circumstances surrounding the incident.’
