Shop worker catches a would-be bike thief in Wales

This is the moment a man reclaims his motorbike by pushing a brazen thief off the vehicle with an ice cream sign.

Shop worker Wayne Eaton was taking down a board sign outside Forte’s Ice Cream Parlour, in Mumbles, Wales, when he spotted the thief trying to make off with his bike.

So he sprang into action, mainly as he was worried how he was going to get to work without his bike.

He said: ‘It was 4.30pm and the parlour was closing, I was outside taking the board down when I noticed a kid on my motorbike.

‘There was also another kid who was sat alongside him on another bike.

‘He had already started the ignition, I don’t know how, because the bike has a lock and alarm on it.

‘As soon as I saw that I just ran and knocked him off his bike and he then jumped onto his friend’s bike.

‘I didn’t punch him, I just had to run after him as without the bike I wouldn’t be able to get to work.’

The incident happened on February 7, but Mr Eaton said similar incidents had happened to other people in the area.

‘People have said that they have seen two boys in and out of people’s driveways.

‘I rang the police straight away and gave them their licence plate number. Apparently the police were chasing them around Townhill before they managed to get away.

‘Everyone in the area is living in fear at the moment, people just need to be vigilant,’ the 52-year-old said.
