A passerby spotted what she thought was a dead rabbit and alerted authorities – but it turned out to just be sleeping.
Karlee, 18, spotted what she thought was a dead rabbit in the window of Pets in Melbourne Central on Friday.
She went in to the shop and alerted the RSPCA, before City of Melbourne inspectors arrived at the store.

Karlee said the rabbit looked like it wasn’t breathing, and had ‘red eyes’.
‘It wasn’t moving at all,’ she told 3AW.
A staff member at the shop named Poppy told Daily Mail Australia the rabbit was ‘fine’, and only sleeping.
‘Our staff clean the cages every morning and make sure they are healthy.
‘The rabbit is fine, it’s asleep, it’s not dying.’
A City of Melbourne spokesman confirmed to Daily Mail Australia they inspected the store twice and the rabbit was sleeping.
‘On the second occasion the rabbits were all awake and all in good condition,’ he said.
