Shoppers mock Jimmy Choo’s collaboration with Timberland

Jimmy Choo has been mocked for flogging builder’s boots covered in paint and graffiti for £695 – while crystal-adorned stiletto versions of the boots cost a whopping £4,500.

The luxury stiletto designer has teamed up with outdoor clothing company Timberland as noughties fashion makes a major comeback in UK stores.

The brands are selling the classic workman-style tan leather boots with a twist, meaning they wouldn’t exactly be at home on a building site or as walking boots as they were originally intended.

The high street-designer crossover boots have ‘Jimmy Choo’ emblazoned on them in graffiti lettering and are splattered with gold paint.

They are nearly four times the price of the same Timberland boot – that cost £180 – without the Jimmy Choo extras.

There are also knee-high black ‘harness’ boots and black boots with crystals spelling out on Jimmy Choo on the cuff, which both cost £1,225.

And the most expensive of the range are the Jimmy Choo X Timberland 6 Inch Crystal Boots. which feature Swarovski Crystals and 6 inch heels.

They are now on sale in high-end department store Selfridges in the UK after being released late last year.

The Jimmy Choo X Timberland range was designed by the designer brand’s creative director, Sandra Choi.

Choi, who is also Jimmy Choo’s niece, explained her thinking behind the designs: ‘I love to mix it up by getting together with interesting creative minds, combining our DNA to create a beautiful and surprising designs.’

Shoppers certainly found the looks surprising, with many who are fans of the brands saying they would be giving the latest collection a miss.

‘Timbs with some gold leaf and Jimmy Choo airbrushed on the side. Lame… What a let down.’
