Sickening moment Texas man violently strikes his dog more than 20 TIMES after ordering the animal to sit

  • Harris County police are conducting an investigation and say the owner could face charges

Police have launched an investigation into surveillance footage showing a man violently beating his dog outside his Texas home.

The disturbing incident occurred Sunday afternoon in Katy, west of Houston, and was captured on a neighbor’s security camera, set up to monitor their front yard. 

Th sixty-second video begins with the pooch walking across the neighbor’s lawn as its owner trails behind and orders the animal to sit. 

‘Hey! Stop! Sit!’ the man can be heard demanding, before the canine complies. 

However, the animal’s obedience does not satisfy the owner, who then starts striking the dog with with an unidentified object.

The dog tries to break free – a move which enrages the owner even more and prompts him to hit the pooch harder. He strikes the animal more than 20 times in total. 

The shocking footage concludes with the man putting the pup on a leash and walking back in the direction of his home. 

It’s believed concerned neighbors shared the footage with police, who have confirmed they have launched a probe into the incident. 

Officers say that the perpetrator – who has not been named – could face charges.  

Harris County Constable Alan Rosen told Click2Houston: ‘We’ll present [the case] to the DA’s office once we complete our investigation. If charges are warranted, we will absolutely seek the charges and this person will then have their day in court’.

The dog has since been taken from the man’s home and is being evaluated by a veterinarian.

Local SPCA officials have praised the neighbors for presenting the footage to authorities. 

‘We rely on our community’s eyes and ears, so it’s critical that animal abuse be reported immediately, especially when it involves violence towards animals,’ SPCA employee Adam Reynolds told Click2Houston. 

‘You could save a life just by sharing information online or by picking up the phone.’
