Simi v Hodges: Podcaster LOSES fight against against the NRL legend after vowing to win back ex

Australian podcaster Jordan Simi has lost his boxing match against NRL legend Justin Hodges, after vowing to win back his Instagram model ex Sammy Robinson by beating his rival in the ring.

Simi, 27, who had never fought professionally, was outmuscled by the Broncos legend, 40, on Wednesday night, losing all four rounds via unanimous decision.

Despite his defeat, it seems Simi’s efforts in the ring were enough to lure back Robinson, who was watching the heavyweight undercard bout ringside.

Posting to Instagram Stories after the fight, Simi shared a video of himself and the Gigi Hadid lookalike cuddling up in the grandstands together, captioning the post: ‘Love was the winner’.

Robinson also hinted at a romantic reunion by sharing a photo of her ex-beau in the ring, captioned: ‘Go boy [love heart emoji]’.

While Simi failed to win against Hodges, he did manage to withstand the full four rounds by avoiding the sportsman’s heavy hits.

Hodges even gave credit to his opponent after the fight, telling fans: ‘If I had a hat I’d take it off to Simi, I think for being an influencer he’s a strong guy’.

The athlete admitted he struggled to land a punch on Simi at one point, explaining: ‘I did find it hard to land that right hand, I think he kept moving and I kept trying to touch his jab to land the right. He just had that little bit of distance and I couldn’t get to him.’

Simi and Robinson dated for seven months before calling it quits in May.

On Monday, Simi told  News Corp Australia that he would stop at nothing to win her back.

‘I’ve actually invited her to the fight, she is the love of my life. I was saying to [promoters] George and Matt Rose, ‘I’m fighting for love here. That’s why I’m doing this”.

Simi went on to describe himself as a ‘romantic’, revealing his mates were ‘rallying around’ to convince Robinson to watch his match ringside.

‘I’m just gonna take my time and if he thinks I’m old and slow, it’s gonna look pretty bad for him when a 40-year-old knocks him out,’ Hodges said.

The athlete took a stab at Simi’s lack of experience, declaring ‘I don’t give a s*** what he does’ when asked whether he’s struggled to prepare for his showdown without seeing any footage of Simi fighting.

‘He’ll have to knock me out to win. There’s no doubt about that,’ he declared.

Simi, who hosts the Grouse And A Few Reds’ podcast, meanwhile claimed that ‘sloppy’ Hodges will struggle to keep up with him due to his older age.

‘I’m excited to jump in there. I’ve been watching his past fights … he’s a bit slow to be fair, just comes with age respectfully,’ he jibed.
