Simone Biles’ husband Jonathan Owens captures her Olympic gymnastics qualifier routine with a single word

Jonathan Owens wasn’t in Paris on Sunday to support his wife Simone Biles, but the Bears player cheered her on from afar after she nailed her vault routine.

Owens, who has been in training camp with his new team, posted a proud Instagram story of Biles as he watched her late at night back in the USA.

‘Flawless,’  he captioned a photo of her following her vault routine that he posted to his Instagram story.

Biles earned a 15.300 score between her two vaults, and also finished the Sunday atop the overall leaderboard with a score of 59.566.

She won’t have to compete without her husband there in person for much longer, as the Bears are allowing him to travel to Paris from July 29 to August 3.

Owens will miss seven training camp practices while he’s gone in a special exception.

‘Just because we respect the Olympics, Bears coach Matt Eberflus said last week, via ESPN.

‘That is a big deal. And he’s just supporting the one he loves the most. And I think that’s so cool that he gets to do that. We welcome that and it’s going to be awesome. Go USA.’

The 27-year-old Biles battled through a calf injury on Sunday after an awkward landing during a warmup routine.

Her coach Cecile Landi later told reporters that the decorated Olympian had previously been dealing with calf pain in recent weeks.

Nonetheless, she leads all competitors as things stand and has plenty to smile about.

The four-time gold medalist was notably absent from the opening ceremony on Friday.

Her parents explained afterwards during an interview on NBC that she needed to rest up prior to the women’s qualifier on Sunday.

Her teammates Suni Lee, Hezly Rivera, Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey also skipped the event, which saw athletes ride down the Seine on boats.

Plus, this is Biles third Olympic games, so she is likely no stranger to the sort of festivities she missed out on this time.
