Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles is engaged to her NFL player boyfriend Jonathan Owens less than two years after they met on social media.
Biles, 24, announced the happy news on Instagram this morning, sharing several photos of the moment Owens, 26, got down on one knee to pop the question on Monday night.
The loved-up couple beamed in the images, which also show Owens lifting Biles up and kissing her.
A closeup and a video spotlight Biles’ new diamond ring, which features an enormous oval-cut diamond on a band inlaid with more diamonds.
‘THE EASIEST YES,’ the pro gymnast gushed. ‘I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! let’s get married FIANCÉ.’

‘THE EASIEST YES,’ the pro gymnast gushed. ‘I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! let’s get married FIANCÉ.’
Owens commented on her post, writing: ‘Ready for forever with you.’
The Houston Texans football safety also posted several photos on Instagram, writing: ‘Woke up this morning with a fiancée.’
‘Appreciate my dawg @don_julio314 for helping me set everything up, she really had no clue what was coming,’ he added. ‘[Jeweler] @zofrost you went crazy on this one bro really made the night special.’
Jewelry designer ZoFrost of ZoFrost & Co designed the ring, though details about how many carats it weighs are still unknocn.
Biles — who has six Olympic medals, including four gold from the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics — has been dating her beau for a little under two years.
They first connected via social media in March 2020, right before the pandemic shut down the US.
‘He would say I slid into his DMs,’ Biles told the Wall Street Journal. ‘I saw him and I was like, “Oh, he’s pretty cute,” so I said hi … and then I saw that he was in the Houston area, so we started chatting a little bit, and then we went to hang out a week or two later.’

Owens, surprisingly, admitted that he didn’t actually know about the gold medalist was when she contact him.
‘I didn’t know who she was,’ he told Texas Monthly. ‘I just hadn’t heard of her, and when I told her that, that’s one of the things she liked.’
He said they ended up ‘hanging out right before the pandemic.’
‘It was one of the few times in her life where everything was just shut off and she couldn’t do anything. So we used it to get to know each other — really get to know each other. It created our bond and made it stronger. Now I’m so thankful.’
They made things Instagram official on August 2 of that year, when Biles shared a photo of them smiling together and another of Owens kissing her cheek.
‘It’s just us,’ she wrote.
‘The only time I fall is when he’s there to catch me,’ she wrote a few weeks later.
The couple clearly got serious quickly, and in 2020 Owens spent Christmas with Biles and her family.
They celebrated their first Valentine’s Day together last year, with Biles writing: ‘Lucky to be loved by you.’
In March, they took a romantic trip to Belize.
‘This was a match made in heaven,’ Owens told Texas Monthly. ‘There’s no better person for me. She loves me, she’s so affectionate. I just love that. And it’s just intoxicating seeing how much work she puts into everything.’
She has sung his praises, too. On his birthday last year, she posted a gushing tribute on Instagram.
‘”HAPPY 26th BIRTHDAY BABE,’ she wrote. ‘@jowens_3 I love you so much. Can’t wait to celebrate you when I get home! thanks for keeping me sane during the craziest times. an ear to vent too, someone to share fun times with and make the best of memories. not sure how I got so lucky & what I’d do without you!
‘But I hope you have the best day ever. Not too much fun without me tho hahaha. forever yours, S,’ she said.
Owens was also there to support Biles when she got home from the Tokyo Olympics last summer, after she made the devastating decision to pull out of several events due to a terrifying condition known as ‘the twisties.’
Biles withdrew from competition after developing the psychological condition, in which gymnasts lose their ability to feel where they are in the air — which, for athletes who are flipping and twisting feet above the ground, can lead to catastrophic injury.
‘Imma ride with you through whatever baby,’ Owens wrote to Biles on Instagram.
‘Your strength and courage is unmatched and you inspire me more and more everyday SB. You always gone be my champ baby and don’t you ever forget that, i love you so much and i can’t wait till you come home and i get to see that beautiful smile again. You know I’m always here for you baby,’ he said.
