Simone Biles reveals she broke down in tears after final event at Paris Olympics

Despite winning three gold medals in Paris to become the most decorated gymnast in the history of the Olympics, Simone Biles still teared up after her latest milestone.

The 27-year-old American, who now has 11 Olympic medals to her name including seven in gold, revealed that she felt overwhelmed while walking back to the Paris Olympic Village with her teammates from the women’s floor final on Monday.

Biles’ summer haul includes team gold, all-around gold, vault good, and floor silver.

‘Yesterday, when we got back to the village, I looked at Jordan [Chiles] and I started balling my eyes out,’ Biles said on the ‘TODAY’ Show on Tuesday.

‘She was like, ”I knew it was going to happen, I just didn’t know when.” I was just full of emotion and I finally released all of that.’

Biles then clarified: ‘I was so proud, happy, and bittersweet that the journey is over. It’s so crazy, it happened so quick. My third Olympics.’ 

While the Spring, Texas, native hasn’t ruled out her chances of competing in a fourth Olympic Games, she hasn’t confirmed what the future holds for her either. 

‘You know, you never say never,’ Biles told the ‘TODAY’ Show’s hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb. ‘The next Olympics is on home turf [in Los Angeles] so you just never know.’ 

The gymnast added: ‘I’m just going to relax and see where life takes me.’

But, first, before even packing her bags to return home, Biles was begged by former US gymnastics teammate MyKayla Skinner to end the online bullying she’s been facing since she criticized the Olympian before the start of the Games. 

Biles was also defended by former US First Lady Michelle Obama for bowing down to Brazilian rival Rebeca Andrade after the women’s floor final. Biles came second in the event while Chiles claimed bronze. 

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey initially slammed Biles and Chiles for their gesture on the podium during the medal ceremony.

Meanwhile, Biles had therapy ‘three or four times’ during the Paris Olympics to get over her anxiety between events, also known as the ‘Twisties’ in gymnastics.
