Simone Callahan reflects on her 10-year marriage to ex-husband Shane Warne

Simone Callahan has reflected on her 10-year marriage to ex-husband Shane Warne and how she finally found happiness after heartbreak.

The 48-year-old mother-of-three appeared on A Current Affair on Monday and she revealed she was unhappy living in the public eye as the wife of a cricket star.

‘I didn’t really enjoy that time in the spotlight,’ the Melbourne yoga teacher said.

‘[I felt] suppressed a little bit through everything that happened…’

To outsiders, Simone appeared to have it all as the wife of one of Australia’s greatest spin bowlers.

However, their marriage eventually began to unravel in the media causing them to separate in 2005.

They later reconciled before again parting ways in 2010, the same year that Shane was pictured kissing British actress Liz Hurley. 

Shane has been at the centre of various sex scandals over the years. 

In 2006, the notorious ladies’ man made headlines when he was pictured in his underwear with models Coralie Eichholz and Emma Kearney in London.

In 2000, he was dismissed as vice-captain of the Australian cricket team following claims that he bombarded British nurse Donna Wright with inappropriate calls.

He admitted to cheating on Simone in 2016, during a stint on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Outta Here!, when he recalled meeting Coldplay’s Chris Martin in a hotel elevator.

Simone and Shane share three kids together, Brooke, 20, Summer, 16, and Jackson, 19.

The former cricket WAG credited yoga with helping her overcome the pain of her divorce.

She began doing the sacred practice 15 years ago and said it has enabled her to finally find happiness.

‘It just really helped to keep me calm and balanced,’ she said.

‘That’s why it’s great because you can go [into the yoga studio] knowing that no-one’s judging you… You feel lighter, it’s hard to explain but it’s just an overall feeling of feeling good.’

She previously told New Idea she has struggled with trust issues since the divorce.

‘I’m obviously not very good with relationships. I’ve only had two partners in 20 years … maybe I’ve gone too much with my head and not enough with my heart,’ she said.

‘It’s hard to have a normal relationship when I have been so hurt.’

After separating from Shane, Simone dated younger model Toby Roberts, 46, for 19 months but they eventually parted ways in 2012.

‘For me, there were always concerns. There’s a four-year difference between us and Toby hasn’t had kids,’ she shared. ‘I guess he just decided that he doesn’t want to be with me any more. He wants to be on his own, starting his own life again.’
