Singer Hannah Stone dies from apparent suicide, aged 16

YouNow star and singer, Hannah Stone, died from an apparent suicide last week after she took a month-long break from social media in October. 

The 16-year-old passed away on November 1, just two weeks before her 17th birthday.

According to her obituary, Hannah died at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York, ‘with  her loving family by her side’.

In September, the teen shared a cryptic tweet, saying: ‘I’ll never be able to describe how sorry I am.’

A month later, she posted a photo of herself with the caption: ‘Officially on do not disturb mode from now on.’

Hannah had decided to take a break from her social media. Her last Instagram post was on October 14.

Her death shocked her fans, whom she often sang for on YouNow, a live broadcasting service where users stream their own live video content. 

On October 18, the teen made her final YouNow stream as she played the piano and sang to her fans. 

Details behind Hannah’s death have not been released, but media reports claim she took her own life.

Hannah was a talented singer, who had 375,000 fans on YouNow. She also boasted more than 64,000 followers on Instagram.

She wrote her own lyrics, and her original song, the 5quad song, has been viewed by 72,000 people. 

The song was dedicated to now defunct social media group 5quad. Members of the group shared their condolences to Hannah’s family on Twitter.

Zach Clayton called her talented, beautiful and amazing. ‘You are in a better place now,’ he wrote. 

Nick Bean and Edwin Burgos both addressed seeking help for suicidal thoughts. ‘You have a purpose. You’re loved. Never forget that. Rest in peace,’ Burgos wrote. 

‘Your life is worth living,’ Bean tweeted. ‘Don’t let empty thoughts get to you.’
