A singleton was left shocked after receiving a mean string of messages from a man she rejected – but the move may have scored him another date.

Blair, from the US, told a man she was dating she wanted to stop seeing him because he was ‘too nice’ to which he later responded with a series of creative insults from ‘I hope you get popcorn stuck in your teeth’ to ‘I hope you stub your toe’.

The woman saw the funny side of the messages, as did hundreds online, and said he may have improved his chances of another date as she was impressed by his ability to ‘take direction’.

‘Last night I told this genuinely nice guy that he might be a little too nice for me and this is what I woke up to,’ Blair posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

She shared a screenshot of the amusing messages he sent in a bid to prove he wasn’t ‘too nice’ with the first reading: ‘Hey! just thinking about you. I hope your day sucks’.

The following message said he hopes Blair stubs her toe and feels like she needs to sneeze but can’t.

‘I hope you get hair in your eye,’ he added.

‘I hope you get popcorn stuck in your teeth but can’t even remember when you ate any.’

Blair’s tweet racked up a whopping 4.9million views, thousands of likes and hundreds of replies as many applauded the man’s hilarious clap backs.

‘Nice and witty. ‘I hope you get popcorn stuck in your teeth, but can’t even remember when you ate any’ is so good,’ a woman wrote to which Blair agreed.

‘It made me laugh, like damn that’s a new one,’ she replied.

‘This is cute and clever. I’m rooting for him,’ another woman said and a man asked: ‘So does him being funny outweigh the too nice?’.

‘Ok, his humor is on point. He might be a keeper,’ a third commented.

Someone added he gave an ‘elite response’ while others encouraged Blair to give the man ‘another shot’.

‘No means no, but if this were me he just got himself a second date’ one use said to which Blair responded: ‘I think I’ll keep going out with him, just gonna have to get him to argue with me a little’.

Someone said the man’s witty way of proving he wasn’t ‘too nice’ should give him a ‘fighting chance’ and Blair agreed however she has not updated followers as to whether the pair have continued with their relationship.
