A convicted Australian paedophile hiding in Brazil with a fake identity lived a luxury lifestyle drinking cocktails at a picturesque tourist beach before his death.
Christopher Gott, 63, died on Thursday after four months in a coma following a fiery car crash which injured 17 people and killed a toddler.
Gott, who convinced local authorities he was Daniel Phillips, lived a life of simple pleasures and luxury while Australian authorities tried to bring him to justice.
According to news.com.au, Gott spent his time drinking caipirinhas on Copacabana Beach and taught English to Brazilian boys for a number of years.

Gott fathered three Brazillian foster children, all who are reportedly struggling to deal with the revelations of his twisted past.
Foster son Daniel told a Brazillian TV network he lived with Gott for six years and considered him a father figure who helped raise him and two other young men.
Daniel said Gott paid for his education, although none of the three were formally adopted.
‘He was a fundamental person in my development, he helped me a lot, until I turned 21,’ told Brazil’s Rede Globo TV program Fantastico.
‘That’s why it’s a very difficult thing for us – it’s complicated.’

His true identity eluded Brazilian police for days following the crash, until they took a copy of his fingerprint as he lay comatose and sent it to Australian officials.
The Australian Federal Police then revealed the injured man was a convicted paedophile they had been hunting for more than two decades.
In 1983 – when Gott was 29 years old – an indecent assault unfolded at a Melbourne school where he taught.
He later moved to Darwin in the early 1990s when his sexual attraction to underage boys heightened.
Gott would invite boys, some of whom were students he had taught, into his home where they would watch pornography. He would then sexually molest them.
Gott’s 22-year run from police came to an end on on January 18 after the driver of a black Hyundai mowed down the 63-year-old and 16 others at Copacabana Beach (pictured)
He was sentenced to six years behind bars in 1994, but served only two.
In 1996 he was released subject to strict parole conditions, but vanished after catching a bus through the desert to Adelaide.
Gott initially told police he was going to live with his parents in Melbourne, but they told officers they had disowned the convicted paedophile.
Brazilian police were investigating Gott’s role at an international school in Rio but said there is no evidence he molested children in Brazil.
In a statement to AAP, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said it was providing assistance to the family of a man who died in Brazil.
