After 27 years at the helm of Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson cannot simply just switch off his emotions, and he showed that after his former side were dumped out of the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Jose Mourinho’s men were beaten 2-1 on the night by Sevilla – courtesy of a four-minute Wissam Ben Yedder brace – which saw the La Liga side march into the quarter-finals.
Footage published on Twitter on Wednesday showed the current manger Mourinho and former boss Ferguson grimacing at the thought of yet more Champions League heartache.

As Mourinho makes the long walk from the home dugout towards the tunnel following the full-time whistle, his blood is boiling, understandably. However, the camera then switches to Ferguson.
Even through a camera, Ferguson’s displeasure at the thought of another European exit for a side that were once feared across the competition was impossible to avoid letting out.

Defeat is, first and foremost, Ferguson’s main source of anger, but he will also be concerned by the manner in which his former European champions were set aside by their underdog opposition.
United were well and truly in the contest before Ben Yedder scored his first of the night, in the 74th minute, but had struggled to impact the game on any level.
Romelu Lukaku pulled one back for the home side on 84 minutes which turned out to be a mere consolation goal as United failed to secure the crucial second and third goals they needed to upset their visitors.

United were far from at the races and understandably left Ferguson fuming at the result
Lukaku’s goal was the only aspect of the game that gave United supporters something to cheer about, with pundits and fans ridiculing Mourinho’s men after the game.
Former United defender Rio Ferdinand labelled the home side ‘terrible’, meanwhile Paul Pogba central to criticisms scrawled across social media as some urged him to ‘grow the f*** up’ after his ‘awful’ performance.
It’s the kind of feedback and comments that Ferguson rarely came across during his trophy-glittered career at the helm of Old Trafford.
In his lengthy spell as United boss, Ferguson won two Champions League’s – in 1999 and 2008 – and only failed to make it past the last-16 phase on six occasions. United have now not progressed past the quarter-finals since Ferguson led them to the final in 2010-11.
They are still a long way from Fergie’s European powerhouses.
