Sister accused of murdering brother to take control of family ranch

A woman was arrested this week, accused of murdering her younger brother to take control of their family’s sprawling ranch.

Stephanie Jackson, 33, was taken into custody on Wednesday and hit with several charges including first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

Investigators say she killed her brother Jacob Millison, 29, who was first reported missing by his friends in May 2015.

When Millison’s friends lost contact with him, they asked his family about his whereabouts and they said he was on a trip with an MMA fighter group.

But the friends reached out to the group and learned that wasn’t the case.

It wasn’t until about three months later that the family filed a missing person’s report of their own.

In July, police got a warrant to search Millison’s property and found his remains buried on the land, according to CBS Denver. They won’t say how he died but believe his older sister was involved.

Investigators say Jackson was motivated to kill her brother because she wanted to take control of their 700-acre ranch, which is apparently worth millions.

‘It’s definitely ranch-related,’ Gunnison County Under Sheriff Mark Mykol told the Denver Post. ‘It’s a beautiful setting. Indian Head Rock is on the property.’

Friend Randy Martinez says he always knew the family was involved.

‘Literally days before he went missing he told us if anything ever happened to him, it was his family,’ Martinez told CBS Denver.

‘We kind of figured it all along – he is the type of person who would never just take off and leave and that’s what they (his family) said he did,’ Martinez said.

Jackson is being held in jail on $500,000.
