Sister Wives’ star Christine dishes on the future of ex-husband Kody Brown and Robyn’s relationship

Reality star Kody Brown’s ex Christine has shared her thoughts on the future of his marriage to Robyn after she and two other sister wives left him – calling his polygamy dream a ‘failure’ and admitting that she doesn’t think he will try again.

Kody, 53, rose to fame in 2010, thanks to his hit TLC show, Sister Wives – which documented his life with his four wives (including one that was also his stepsister), Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn, while also showcasing some of the many struggles that came with being married to multiple women at the same time.

While only one of his four marriages was official on paper – having more than one spouse is not legal in the US – Kody, who has said it’s ‘God’s testimony’ for him to have numerous spouses, called his other partners his ‘spiritual wives.’

For over a decade, the five-some made their bizarre relationship work, living in four separate homes on the same cul-de-sac in Las Vegas, Nevada, with their joint 18 children.

In a clip obtained by People magazine, the former TLC star explained that she ‘doesn’t see’ Kody and Robyn ‘looking for another wife’ following the ‘failure’ of his past marriages.

‘I think a part of them [will] always be a little bit sad that this didn’t work and that the big family didn’t work,’ she said.

‘And I think that there’d be a little bit of a mourning and a little bit of a loss there still, because it’s a dream, right?

‘It’s like giving up on a dream, and it’s not a dream that they wanted to give up on, necessarily.

‘I don’t see them looking for another wife after this. If you already have this much failure behind you, would you really want that again?

‘And if they’re just happy with each other – and I perceive them as being soulmates with each other – is there room for anyone else, really?’

Host Sukanya Krishnan then pointed out that Robyn ‘always wanted a big, plural family,’ but Christine theorized that it may have turned out to be ‘a lot’ more ‘work’ than she expected.

Christine, who joined the family in 1994, was the first to announce that wanted out of the joint relationship.

She parted ways with the family and moved to Utah in late 2021 – after months of growing tension between her and Kody over the way he treated Robyn, whom he had married in 2010.

Christine previously said that she was unhappy that Kody was ‘catering’ to Robyn’s needs more than the other wives, and that she ‘didn’t feel special anymore.’

Then, Meri, who was first to marry Kody in 1990, announced that she and the reality star had split in December of last year, while Janelle, who entered the picture in 1993, also confirmed that she and Kody had ‘separated’ that same month.

In the upcoming special, Robyn revealed that Kody told her he doesn’t want to add anyone else to their marriage at the moment – but admitted that she might ask him to ‘try it again’ in the future.

‘I’m scared of it because of how badly this has gone,’ she added.

When Christine first left Kody in 2021 she said in an episode of the show, ‘I’m tired of feeling like I don’t matter, I’m tired of not having his support when I really need it. I’m just tired. I need a partnership. I need something different than this.’

Sources told Us Weekly at the time that Kody was closest to Robyn in his plural marriage, and that his ‘complete devotion’ to her led to his split from Christine.

‘She has him wrapped around her finger. They act like they’re still newlyweds. They’re still very much in love,’ one insider said, while calling them a ‘dream couple.’

Another added, ‘Robyn secretly knows that she’s the one to blame for the separation, so obviously there’s some guilt there.’

After he and Christine went their separate ways, Robyn admitted their breakup was hard for her during an episode of the show.

‘I cannot express enough how hard it is to be in a plural family where my husband and his other wife is having a problem and it completely affects my life, but I’m really supposed to stay out of it and I have no say,’ she explained.

‘The lines are hard between our different marriages because it’s like, “OK, you’ve got to respect that she’s got her own relationship with Kody.” But at the same time, their relationship affects yours.’

She spoke about it again in February 2022, stating that being in the middle of Kody and Christine’s drama was ‘really tough’ on her and ‘really painful.’

She added: ‘I want people to see that I love this family. That I’m committed to them. That I’d do anything for them. That I love them. And that I want the relationship.’
